My Perspective on Underwater Photography
Underwater portraits are neither a gimmick nor a special effect. To me, they are one of the most poetic forms of photographic composition because they create a visual world that lies beyond our familiar reality and that is precisely why they are so fascinating.
I don’t work experimentally; instead, I take a deliberate, structured approach. Every scene is prepared, every pose is guided, and every movement is coordinated to create a composition that doesn’t look random, but rather like a painted picture.
This isn't just underwater photography, it's underwater portraiture.
The Experience
An underwater photo shoot at Lena Schneider Studio is an experience that feels more like a day at the beach than a typical photo session: exclusive, relaxed, and extraordinary.
You don't just dive into the water. You dive into a visual world.
First, you’ll choose from flowing fabrics and carefully curated looks, and receive professional styling. The pool area becomes a sanctuary, almost like a private spa experience, but with an artistic touch.
We work calmly, precisely, and with clear guidance. Every movement is guided, every pose is deliberately struck, so that underwater you experience that special sense of weightlessness that makes your photos so unique.
I make sure to allow plenty of time here as well: for breaks, for safety, and for retakes. No pressure. No “just one more quick shot.” Instead, focus and quality.
The result is a series of portraits that seem almost surreal: weightless, elegant, and completely different from anything we’re used to.
